My new series began with a fabulous retrospective that we saw in Kremes, Austria several years ago, of Martha Jungwirth, an abstract expressionist. I was enthralled with the beauty, freshness and audacity of her oils on chip board mounted to canvas. I ordered a case of chipboard and began experimenting. I love the freedom that the modest materials give me and I enjoy working in a free expressive gestural manner which allows me to pierce the surface of a person to glimpse the inside—the real—the feeling part of us. Hopefully these apparitions, essences, spirits touch a nerve, reveal a truth, expose you to yourself or a loved one. May they be mirrors.
