The half face of a women appeared in a huge painting one summer afternoon a year after my mother died. The finished painting was Patty, my mom. She remained beautiful in body and soul, through ravaged throughout her illness. My Ravaged Face Series is a tribute to the beauty of women despite the violence and suffering of time.

I use old tattered textiles in my paintings. Both my mother and I collected homemade women’s work for years. We were both antique dealers and lovers of old handcrafted treasures.
